Pitstop is a provision offering engaging skills based programmes for young people in the local community to develop their interest in the Motor Vehicle Industry.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring all learners enjoy their training and gain the experience and life skills they require to support their progression into further education, training or employment.

Pitstop facilitates a number of recognised qualifications from awarding bodies such as:

  • ABC

  • IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry)

ABC LEVEL (1) IN MOTOR VEHICLE STUDIES

This qualification offers learners the opportunity to study both theory (30%) and practical (70%) aspects of a range of routine vehicle inspection, fittings and procedures. Providing both experience and knowledge on which to base future progression decisions, and enhance employment prospects.

Award = Course duration is one academic year (QCF)

Certificate = Course duration is one/two academic years (QCF)

Diploma = Course duration is two academic years (QCF)

IMI - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE AND ENGINEERING

These Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ) offer learners the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities relating to engineering.

Level (1)

The qualification covers the following subject areas:

  • Introduction to working in the engineering applications
  • Preparing for work
  • Forming and joining engineering applications
  • Introduction to internal combustion engines
  • Basic Maths and Science for engineering technicians

Certificate or Diploma – (VRQ)

Level (2)

The qualification covers the following subject areas:

  • Internal Combustion Engines

  • Mechanical Systems and their maintenance

  • Machining engineering materials

  • Basic Maths and Science for engineering technicians
