Pitstop is a provision offering engaging skills based programmes for young people in the local community to develop their interest in the Motor Vehicle Industry.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring all learners enjoy their training and gain the experience and life skills they require to support their progression into further education, training or employment.

Pitstop facilitates a number of recognised qualifications from awarding bodies such as:

  • ABC

  • IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry)

ABC Level 1 Award in Auto Motor Studies (601/7542/4)

Award course duration 1-2 academic year

This qualification is part of the schools performance league tables. It offers learners a range of learning opportunities including electrical, breaking and suspension systems.

IMI - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING

These Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ) offer learners the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities relating to engineering.

Certificate level 1 (601/0531/8)

The qualification covers the following subject areas:

  • Principles of components fittings

  • Solving problems in daily life

  • Introduction to engineering tools equipment materials

  • Health and safety Practices in an engineering environment

  • Basic maths and science for engineering technicians

Certificate or Diploma – (VRQ)

Level 2 Certificate (601/0532/X)

The qualification covers the following subject areas:

  • Health and safety practices in engineering maintenance environment

  • Tools and equipment used in engineering environment

  • Maths and science for engineering technicians

  • Support in job role in an engineering environment

  • Electronics system maintenance

  • Routine vehicle maintenance.
